Guard Assaults Ailing Political Prisoner in Hospital - Imprisoned newspaper editor Ehsan Mazandarani, who has been hospitalized in Tehran since May 31, 2016 due to his life-threatening hunger strike, was attacked by a prison guard in his hospital room during a family visit.

At Least 8 Prisoners on Hunger Strike in Different Prisons in Iran

Ayat Mehr Ali BeyglooHRANA News Agency – At least eight prisoners of conscience namely Ehsan Mazandarani, Jafar Azimzadeh, Maryam Naghash Zargararn, Mohammad Sediq Kaboudvand, Rasoul Razavi, Heshmatollah Tabarzadi, Mohammad Abdollahi and Ayat Mehr Ali Beygloo are still on hunger strike in various prisons in protest to their situations. The physical condition of some of them has deteriorated. On the one hand doctors of Taleghani Hospital are trying to stop Mohammad Sedigh Kaboudvand’s Potassium shortage. On the other hand, Jafar Azimzadeh was transferred to the Shohada Hospital on June 1, 2016 following the deterioration of his condition. Moreover, the prisoners, Arash Mokri and Mohammad Amin Agoshi also were on hunger strike last month, but the continuation or end of their strike is not known.
